In a culture that is preoccupied with getting thin, multiplied weight loss plans to get there, TV shows called "The Biggest Loser" and so forth, you might think it interesting that the Bible declares it is a blessing to be fat...at least in one weighty territory of your life. That's right! Fat is where it's at. Really, it is talking about the condition of your soul, your spiritual life, the inner man!
Here's a menu from Proverbs that will help you to "beef" up your soul:
A. Selflessness / Generosity - "The liberal soul shall be made fat" Proverbs 11:25
Another way of saying it is give and it shall be given to you.
B. Steadiness / Consistency - "The diligent soul shall be made fat" Proverbs 13:4b
Whatsoever your hands find to do, do it with all of your might!
C. Sweetness / Kindness - "A good report makes the bones fat" Proverbs 15:30
A kind answer turns away wrath, and wholesome thoughts and spiritual conversation on
"whatsoever things are of good report"(Phil. 4:8) is fitting for all.
D. Sureness / Confidence - "He who trusts God shall be made fat" Proverbs 28:25
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word Of God! Build your whole life on Him
and His Word. This always causes growth and stability. (adapted from Derrick Johnson's
"Easy Doesn't Do It")
I just thought you might want to "snack" on this for a while.
Blessings,
Mitch
