...Not a popular topic but an important one since it is something that we all have; some more than others. While facing difficult things it should not surprise us, as if some unusual thing is happening to us. "Through many tribulations we must enter the Kingdom Of God" (Acts 14:22). "You yourselves know that we are destined for this" (I Thess. 3:3). "The Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son he receives" (Heb. 12:6). Suffering is a normal part of the christian life.
A part of me wants to say, "Lord, thanks, but no thanks." But as I am maturing I see more and more that all of this is such a necessary thing. It is from Him, and specifically designed for my unique spiritual needs...all intended for my growth, personal improvement and enlargement...a good Father, He is!
The hymn writers said it well:
He whose heart is kind beyond all measure,
Gives unto each day what He deems best.
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil, with peace and rest.
And...
When through fiery trials thy pathways shall lie,
My grace all sufficient, shall be thy supply;
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.
As you feel the pressures and challenges of life, envision the hand of God lovingly applying necessary things to rehabilitate and restore you to His intended purposes for you (...all things work together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose).
He is busy, the Master of Restoration! How we need to cooperate as He works. Never easy, but so needed...necessary....
Just thought I'd remind us all of this...and I'm sure, I need it more than anyone. Blessings on you and yours.
