The first significant step in becoming all that God wants from you is to understand and declare that you can't! Knowing that there is nothing in me that can help achieve His best, will hopefully turn our undivided attention to His resources that make all these wonderful but humanly impossible things a glorious reality, to our joy and blessing and His glory!
Major Ian Thomas said it this way: "O God, I cannot! You never said I could. You can, and always said You would!"
You cannot live a holy life but you can decide to let Jesus Christ make you holy.
You cannot effectively serve God alone but you can put your self in the place where God's power will come through you.
You might say: I'm not worthy, not me.... Oswald Chambers says, Yes, it does mean you, and the weaker and feebler you are, the better. The one who "has something to trust in" may find the greatest obsticles in trusting Him. He goes on to say, it is not a matter of, can we, but will we.
I'm finding that life boils down to choices. Will I choose? Just think...what would we be like if we really believed and dared to let God be to me all that He says He will be?
O God ! I believe...help Thou my unbelief. "What must we do to do the works of God?", the disciples once asked. ...His reply...this is the work...that ye believe.
Father, grace us to radically entrust ourselves to all the possibilities and potential You have declared belongs to us now...for our joy and blessing and for your Glory!
So rich, we are...
Mitch
