Thoughts on Prayer...

Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God for men is greater still.

So, the one concern of the devil would be to keep the saints from prayer. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray.

Prayer is not a preparation for work, it is work. Prayer is not a preparation for the battle, it is the battle. The possibilities of prayer are the possibilities of faith. Prayer and faith are Siamese twins. One heart animates them both. Faith is always praying. Prayer is always believing.

And finally...

The Christian on his knees sees more than the philosopher on his tiptoes.
