Essentials for Living the Normal Christian Life

The exemplary life God intends for us to live is incumbant upon knowing and acting on key truths and realities. The next few weeks I want to share several things we must believe to live the life God planned for all of us. If this miracle of the new birth is as big as the Bible says it is, and holiness is the norm for God's kids, then what does it take to get "normal"? I think the next few weeks will be helpful for all of us. For some it will be review (not a bad thing to do when it comes to the basics) and others it will be new, and new insights can change our lives forever.

Things I must believe:

1. I must make sure I am thinking rightly about God.

A. W. Tozer says: "The greatest question before the Church is always God Himself, and the most ominous fact about any man is not what he at a given moment may say or do, but what he in his deep heart conceives God to be like.... There is scarcely an error in doctrine or a failure in applying Christian ethics that cannot be traced finally back to imperfect and ignoble thoughts about God."

Among many other things, what you believe about God will determine:
  • whether you believe in moral absolutes
  • where you place prayer in your list of priorities
  • how you will approach that most precious gift - his written Word

If you are serious about living a miracle life, there is nothing more crucial than for you to become captivated by the wonder of God himself.

To be continued...
