We seek to go faster and faster and faster...we accumulate more and more...
Yet we find no meaning or satisfaction in speed or acquisition.
We go faster and faster...but never seem to have enough time...and never seem to get anywhere!
We acquire more and more...but never seem to have enough...and are never satisfied!
And we're rarely, if ever thankful!
More never seems to be enough!
MORE! The obsession of a materialistic culture...
And its ultimate destruction!
Forgive us Lord, who, most times, have more than enough of everything we want. And help us to remember those who never have enough of anything they need.
"Be ye content with your wages." (Lk 3:14) "Be content with such things as ye have." (Heb.13:5) "...and be thankful." (Col 3:15)
For us who live in the greatest country in the world, may we have the greatest Thanksgiving ever in 2005. (edited from "Perspective" by Richard Halverson)
Blessings on you all as we look toward this wonderful season.
