As Pastor Jeff preached from Psalm 139 Sunday morning, the last two verses of that chapter spoke freshly to me. In verses 23 and 24 the psalmist says" "Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way."
As He (God) searches, knows and tries my heart, to unveil anxious thoughts and disclose hurtful tendencies in me, it seems that He lovingly does this to remove hindrances to His directives in my life. In essence, he is saying that the searching, the trying and the seeing are prerequisite to His leading me. It is essential that we allow Him to correct us before He can direct us.
My comupter has a virus software on it that allows me to search my computer and try its files to determine if there are any malicious or hurtful items on my hard drive that could hinder, permanently corrupt or damage my computer and its effective functioning. God, our Creator / Father wants to launch His Spiritual Virus Software in us to find and remove anything damaging to His ongoing purposes in us and through us. "The Message" says it this way: "...See for yourself [God] whether I've done anything wrong - THEN guide me on the road to eternal life.
Let Him search and send to the recycle bin anything that He deems necessary. Painful as it may be at the time, we'll be glad we did.
I just wanted you to know.
Blessings,
Mitch
