Worth Repeating...

I think I've published the information in this blog before but I feel it bears hearing again...I know it became fresh to me today and I thought you'd be blessed by this encouragement.

One of the keys to growing in our knowledge of Christ is to think long and deep on what His Word teaches and on the ways we experience Him. Oswald Chambers calls this "soaking in the deep truths of God".

J. I. Packer says it this way: "The key to translating knowledge about God into knowledge of God is the biblical habit of meditation."

Meditation is the activity of calling to mind, and thinking over, dwelling on and applying to oneself, the various things that we know about the work, the ways, purposes and promises of God. It is an activity of holy thought, consciously performed in the presence of God, under the eye of God, by the help of God, as a means of communication with God. Its purpose is to clear one's mental and spiritual vision of God, and to let His truth make its full and proper impact on our mind and heart.

It is your effort to align yourself (thinking, motives, moods, values, choices etc.) with God.

David prayed, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer." (Ps. 19:14)

Also, I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you visiting this blog. Always know that I welcome your comments to anything said here. You can do that at mitch@fellowshiponline.org .
