Personal Growth...

A disciple is a learner. We need to be lifelong learners. We are responsible for taking the initiative for our ongoing development. Too many depend on just what they receive at church to satisfy their spiritual needs. This places too much responsibility for your spiritual growth on others.

We must commit to take responsibility for our growth. We need to be consistently learning and growing. One of the great avenues for this can be reading. Several years ago I made it a goal of mine to read 12 good books a year. That was twenty five years ago. It has profoundly changed my life.

I've found that there is value in reading new books and books of spiritual giants from the past. My most recent read is "The God Of All Comfort" by Hannah Whitall Smith. An old book that is probably the most practical book I've read on how to make your christian life work. A new book I'm currently in is "Risk" by Kenny Luck from the God's Man Series. It challenges us to step out and trust God with everything. A good read for any man.

We live in a day where there is a proliferation of good materials that are easily accessible to most. The failure to press ahead into the "much more "of God is really without excuse and has serious ramifications. I saw a slogan the other day that spoke strongly to me: It's either the pain of discipline OR the pain of regret.

We have a choice. Don't miss the riches awaiting all those who will "diligently seek Him".

Just thought you would want to know...

Indebted,

Mitch
