Sobering...

A friend from Norman, Oklahoma submitted this article recently in the aftermath of the tragic shootings at Virginia Tech. ...Thought I'd pass it along to you.

Life Is Not A Dress Rehearsal

Every day people go about their daily routine never thinking that this could be their last day on earth. the students at Virginia Tech were possibly in that crowd. suddenly, gunshots rang out, and students entered eternity, ready or not! Life is not a dress rehearsal.

In no way do I want to imply that those 32 students who died had a casual approach to life. At this writing, little information has been released about them. I so hope that each of them knew Christ personally, however, the chances of that are not great.

Why do people so casually go about life? The primary reason is that God does not occupy their thoughts. Intimacy with God brings about an awareness of the nearness of eternity.

Life is to be lived to glorify God. We have one life-long opportunity to glorify Him, and no one knows how long his life will be. Are you living like this could be your last day?

The Scriptures warn us in James 4:13-15. "Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we shall go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.' Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we shall live and also do this or that."

Make today count! Invest it wisely. Seize every moment of it to do what is right and pleases Him.

Blessings,

Mitch
