Following Thanksgiving, thoughts of Christmas, the advent of Jesus Christ and the “good tidings” His arrival brought, are everywhere.
We all love good news. In a fallen world, good news brings hope, bright thoughts of the future, joy and relief. When He arrived, Jesus Christ was the best news our world had ever heard. And today, He still is.
Though CNN and FOX may perennially bring us disturbing reports, the Good News is that the God of the Ages is managing all we see and hear [guiding the world to His desired end] and this is the only thing that could keep us from despair. The Good News contained in the Gospel is still at work and available for all who believe, no matter what and without exception.
In a humanistic world, our best will never bring a good final result. Our best, whether politically, economically, socially, intellectually or morally, will always come up short. But the good news of the coming of Jesus Christ, the King Of Kings, tells us that we have new opportunity [everyday] to let Him rule and reign over our lives and world. His Life and Sovereign oversight, is far superior to ours and will guarantee the bright future, peace, hope and relief we all long for.
A great spiritual man once said, “…Hope does not come from positive predictions about the state of our world. Nor does hope depend on the ups and downs of our life’s particulars. Hope rather has to do with God! We have hope and joy…because we believe that, while the world in which we live is shrouded in darkness, God has overcome the world! In the world, said Jesus, you face persecution. But take courage, I have overcome the world.”
We love and follow the One who is not limited by the enemy nor the world and its systems. He is the Light of Life that came to bring order from chaos, substance where there is void, life where there is death, light where there is darkness, peace where there is war, hope where there is despair, love where there is hatred and...where there is doubt, faith.
The angel said over 2000 years ago, “I’ve come to bring you good tidings of GREAT JOY! Wow, was he ever right. GIVE HIM PRAISE!!!
